9-month programme combining taught modules and supervised research through CHIA
→ PhD4-year research programme with training in fundamental, social, cognitive, and responsible AI
→Cross-departmental co-supervision is possible with colleagues in Psychology, Public Health, or other departments.
Explainability, uncertainty quantification, robustness
Decision support systems, human-in-the-loop ML, user studies
Real-world evaluation, deployment documentation, ecological validity
Healthcare, education, and public safety applications
Strong background in machine learning, statistics, or computer science
Interest in human-AI interaction, trustworthy AI, or related areas
Experience with empirical research methods (user studies, experiments)
Passion for building AI systems that work for people in real-world settings
Scholarships are automatically considered during applications, including departmental funding, EPSRC, and college-based awards.
